LNG business Cameron LNG project

Large-scale US-based LNG export project

Cameron LNG project is an LNG exporting project in which Mitsubishi Corporation participates via Japan LNG Investment, LLC (JLI), a joint venture with Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, along with US-based Sempra Energy, TotalEnergies of France, and Mitsui & Co.

This is the first LNG export project on the US mainland in which Mitsubishi Corporation has invested in. LNG production began in May 2019, and LNG output is 12.0 million tons per annum using a total of three liquefaction trains (4 million tons per each train).

Mitsubishi Corporation, which owns the rights to use the capacity equivalent to one liquefaction train, is procuring natural gas and delivering it via pipelines to Cameron LNG terminal to liquefy it, and is selling approximately 4 million tons per annum of LNG produced to customers in Japan and other countries.

Through this project, Mitsubishi Corporation aims to diversify its procurement sources of LNG, and achieve long-term stability in our LNG supply.
