Building a natural gas value chain in Canada

Mitsubishi Corporation is building a natural gas value chain in Canada, stretching from upstream resource development to LNG production, export and sales. In terms of upstream businesses, we are working with Ovintiv Inc on developing and producing shale gas from Montney Formation in the area near Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Also, to export and sell the natural gas as LNG, Mitsubishi Corporation made a final investment decision on the LNG Canada project, together with its partners, in October 2018. This project involves the construction of liquefaction facilities in Kitimat, British Columbia, with annual production capacity of 14 million tons (two trains of 7 million tons each), and LNG will be exported and sold to customers in Japan and other East Asian countries.
